These terms explain how Swift Blood Tests works, what you can expect from us when you book a blood test, and what we ask of you. Please read them before making a booking.

You may use this website to find information about our services, choose a test and make a booking. When using it, you agree not to:
- use the website for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose;
- make a booking in someone else’s name without their permission;
- try to gain unauthorised access to the website, its servers or any connected systems;

We aim to keep the website available, but we cannot guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend or change parts of the website for maintenance or updates.
3. Booking a blood test
You can book online or by phone. If you are not sure which test you need, you can use our Find Your Test page or contact us before booking.
- Online bookings are paid in advance, and your booking is confirmed once your payment has gone through.
- Please make sure the details you give us (name, date of birth, contact details and address for home visits) are accurate, as they are used to label your sample and send your results.
- We may decline or cancel a booking if a test is not suitable, if we cannot provide the service in your area, or if the information provided is incomplete.
Children and young people
We provide blood tests for adults and children. Private blood tests are available from age 6 without a GP referral. Children from 18 months can be tested only with a blood test request form from their GP. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who will be asked to give consent.
GP and consultant request forms
If you have a blood test request form from your GP or consultant, please bring it to your appointment or have it ready for your home visit. Samples taken with a GP or consultant request form are sent to your local hospital for analysis.
4. Clinic appointments
You can choose a clinic location when you book. Details of our locations are on our Find Your Nearest Clinic page.
- Please arrive in good time for your appointment. Our approach to late arrivals is explained in our Refund Policy.
- Please bring ID and any request form that applies to your test.
- Clinic opening times may vary by location.
5. Home visits
Our phlebotomists can visit your home or workplace in the areas we cover. You can read more about this on our phlebotomy services page.
Areas covered
We visit homes across Essex, including Maldon, Chelmsford, Billericay, Brentwood, Upminster, Romford, Thurrock, Grays, Ingatestone and Blackmore.
Home-visit charges
Home visits are charged at £40, unless the test listing states that the home-visit fee is included. For addresses outside our coverage area, an additional 45p per mile applies.
For a home visit, please:
- be available at the address you gave during your booked time;
- provide a clean, well-lit, safe place where you can sit or lie down for the blood draw;
- make sure a parent or guardian is present for any child being tested.
Our phlebotomist may decline to carry out a visit if they feel it is unsafe to do so.
6. Blood collection
Blood samples are taken from a vein by a trained phlebotomist. Before your sample is taken, you will be asked to confirm your consent. You can ask the phlebotomist to stop at any time.
Please tell us before your appointment if you:
- take blood-thinning medication or have a bleeding disorder;
- have fainted or felt unwell during a previous blood test;
- have any allergies (for example to plasters or latex) or relevant medical conditions.
Minor bruising or tenderness where the needle was inserted is common and usually settles within a few days. If we cannot obtain a suitable sample, please see failed or unsuitable samples in our Refund Policy.
7. Test information
Each test on our blood tests page describes what it measures and any preparation needed, such as fasting or testing at a particular time of day. This information is general and is not personal medical advice.
It is your responsibility to choose a test that suits your needs. If you are unsure, please contact us or speak to your GP before booking.
8. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown on our website in pounds sterling (£). VAT is not charged on blood tests. VAT is charged on home test kits.
- Online bookings are paid in advance through Stripe. For in-person payments, we accept Square card payments or bank transfer.
- We may change our prices from time to time. The price you pay is the price shown when your booking was confirmed.
- If we discover a clear pricing error before your appointment, we will contact you and give you the choice to continue at the correct price or cancel.
9. Appointment changes and cancellations
You can ask to change or cancel your appointment by contacting us by phone or email. We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Fees and refunds are explained in full in our Refund Policy.
If we need to change or cancel your appointment, for example because of staff illness or circumstances outside our control, we will contact you as soon as possible to arrange an alternative.
10. Laboratory testing
Samples for private tests are analysed by UKAS-accredited laboratories.
Occasionally a laboratory may be unable to analyse a sample, for example if it has clotted, separated (haemolysed), is too small, or has been delayed in transit. If this happens, we will contact you. What happens next is explained in our Refund Policy.
11. Turnaround times
Turnaround times depend on the test and the laboratory. Any times shown on our website are estimates, not guarantees. Selected tests may offer same-day results. Where available, the expected turnaround time is shown on each test’s page.
Results can occasionally be delayed by factors such as courier delays, repeat analysis or bank holidays. We will let you know if we become aware of a significant delay.
12. Your results
Results are sent securely to you and, where requested, to your GP or consultant. Results are delivered by email.
- Please keep any login details private and tell us promptly if your contact details change.
- We will only share your results with others where you have agreed, or where the law requires it.
- If needed, we can also provide a Smart Report. Please ask us for details.
13. Clinical limitations
Blood tests are a useful part of understanding your health, but they have limits:
- A blood test result does not, on its own, give a diagnosis. It should be considered alongside your symptoms, history and examination.
- A result within the reference range does not always rule out a health condition, and a result outside it is not always a cause for concern.
- Reference ranges can differ between laboratories.
- Private testing does not replace NHS care or national screening programmes.
We are not an emergency service. If you feel seriously unwell, call 999. For urgent medical advice, contact NHS 111. Please discuss any symptoms or concerning results with your GP or another qualified clinician.
14. Your responsibilities
To help us provide a safe and reliable service, we ask that you:
- give us accurate, complete information when booking;
- follow any preparation instructions for your test;
- attend on time or let us know as early as possible if you cannot;
- tell us about any medical conditions or medicines relevant to your blood draw;
- treat our team with courtesy and respect.
We may end an appointment if our staff are subjected to abusive, threatening or unsafe behaviour.
15. Website information
Content on this website, including test descriptions and articles, is for general information only and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional. We work to keep it accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee it is complete or current at all times.

17. Privacy and data protection
To provide our services, we collect and use personal data, including health information. Health information is special category data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, and we handle it with extra care.
- We share your information only where needed to provide your service, for example with the laboratory analysing your sample, and with your GP or consultant where you ask us to.
- You have rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct and, in some cases, delete it.

18. Our liability
We provide our services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable, or for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
19. Third-party services
We use trusted third parties to help deliver our services, such as payment providers, booking systems, laboratories and couriers. Some of these may have their own terms. Where our website links to other websites, we are not responsible for their content or practices.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our services or the law. The version that applies to your booking is the one published when your booking was confirmed. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when the terms were last changed.
21. Governing law and complaints
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
If something has gone wrong, please contact us so we can try to put it right. We aim to respond to complaints within 14 days.
