Tired All The Time Blood Test — What This Fatigue Panel Checks

Feeling worn out most days, even after a full night’s sleep? A tired all the time blood test brings several of the checks most often used when energy is low into one appointment, so you don’t have to book single tests one by one.

What’s included

This fatigue blood test is built around the areas most commonly looked at when someone feels tired for weeks at a time:

  • Thyroid function
  • Iron stores
  • Key vitamins
  • Full blood count
  • Kidney function
  • Liver function
  • HbA1c (blood sugar)

Looking at these together gives you and your GP a clearer starting point than guessing which single test to book first.

Who May Consider This Test

  • You’ve had low energy most days for several weeks
  • You struggle with concentration or “brain fog”
  • You’ve improved sleep and routine but still feel drained
  • You want a broad check before speaking to your GP

What This Test Can and Cannot Tell You

It can

  • Show whether common markers linked to tiredness sit inside or outside the laboratory reference range
  • Give you and your GP a clearer place to start
  • Help you decide whether a more focused test is worth doing next

It cannot

  • Diagnose the cause of your tiredness on its own
  • Pick up causes that don’t show in blood, such as poor sleep, stress, low mood or medicine side effects
  • Replace a GP assessment, especially if tiredness is new, severe or comes with other symptoms

Tired All The Time vs Iron or Thyroid Testing — Which Do You Need?

If you already know which area you want checked, a focused test may suit you better. If you don’t know where to start, the broader panel covers more ground in one sample.

Preparation and Results

If you’re unsure how to prepare — for example, whether to eat beforehand or what time of day to book — call the Swift team on 01277 652067 before your appointment so your sample can be processed without delay.

When your results come back, a result outside the reference range isn’t a diagnosis on its own. Your GP can look at it alongside how you feel and decide what, if anything, needs doing next.

Tired All The Time Blood Test FAQs

What does the tired all the time blood test include?

It brings together checks commonly used when someone feels tired all the time, including thyroid function, iron stores, key vitamins, a full blood count, kidney and liver function and HbA1c (a longer-term blood sugar marker).

How much does the test cost?

The current price is shown in the booking panel at the top of this page. Your total, including the collection option you choose, is shown before you pay.

Can this test diagnose why I’m tired?

No. It can show whether common blood markers linked to tiredness are within range, but it can’t diagnose a cause on its own. Many causes of tiredness, such as sleep problems, stress or low mood, don’t show up in a blood test, so discuss your results with your GP.

Should I test my thyroid or iron separately instead?

If your GP or a previous result has already pointed to one area, a focused test such as an advanced iron or thyroid function test may suit you better. If you don’t know where to start, the tired all the time panel covers several areas in one sample.

Where can I have my blood taken?

Choose your collection option in the booking panel above. Depending on the test, this can include a Swift clinic appointment, a home visit in Essex or a kit. Use the clinic finder to see the location nearest to you.

What if one of my results is out of range?

An out-of-range result isn’t a diagnosis on its own. Share your results with your GP or clinician, who can interpret them alongside your symptoms and decide whether anything else is needed.

When should I see a doctor instead of booking a test?

If your tiredness is sudden or severe, or comes with symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, breathlessness, chest pain or heavy bleeding, speak to your GP or call NHS 111 rather than waiting for a private blood test.

Great service. I’m not the best with needles, however, Jo made me feel comfortable and at ease which made the whole process much more tolerable. 5 stars from me.
