Overview

The Women’s Reproductive Health test is a specialised blood screening designed to provide comprehensive insight into female reproductive hormones and fertility status. This focused panel evaluates the key hormones that regulate menstrual cycles, ovulation, fertility, and overall reproductive function. Understanding your reproductive hormone profile is essential for women experiencing menstrual irregularities, those trying to conceive, managing conditions like PCOS, or simply wanting to understand their fertility status and hormonal balance. Reproductive hormones fluctuate throughout the menstrual cycle and across different life stages, affecting not only fertility but also mood, energy, weight, skin health, and overall wellbeing. This comprehensive reproductive panel provides crucial information for fertility planning, cycle regulation, and reproductive health optimisation.

Key Test Components

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

FSH is produced by the pituitary gland and stimulates the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles containing eggs.

LH triggers ovulation and stimulates the production of progesterone after egg release.

Estradiol is the primary and most potent estrogen hormone in women of reproductive age.

Progesterone is produced by the corpus luteum after ovulation and is essential for preparing the uterine lining for embryo implantation and maintaining early pregnancy.

Prolactin is a hormone primarily known for stimulating breast milk production, but elevated levels outside of pregnancy and breastfeeding can disrupt menstrual cycles, prevent ovulation, and cause infertility.

SHBG is a protein that binds to sex hormones (testosterone, estrogen) in the bloodstream, affecting the amount of “free” or bioavailable hormones.

While considered a male hormone, testosterone is also important for women in smaller amounts.
