The CA-125 Test is a blood screening that measures the level of Cancer Antigen 125 (CA-125), a protein found in greater concentration in ovarian cancer cells and certain other conditions. This marker is primarily used in the evaluation and monitoring of ovarian cancer, as well as assessing other gynecological conditions. While elevated CA-125 levels can indicate ovarian cancer, they may also be elevated in benign conditions such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, uterine fibroids, and even during menstruation or pregnancy. This test is most valuable when used alongside other diagnostic tools and clinical assessments to provide a comprehensive picture of gynecological and abdominal health.
